The platforms we use (Wix, SquareSpace, Godaddy) take security very seriously.

Firstly, your website name, ie YourBusinessName.co.uk is protected. We use Godaddy full protection option for all our clients website names (also called domain) which prevents unauthorized transfers or deletions. Its important to protect this as its the way people will find your business when they search.

Secondly, your Website itself is protected by SSL (you will see a padlock in the address bar at the top of the screen, and your website starts with "https"). This makes sure information sent between your web browser (like Chrome or Safari) and your website stays private and protected.

Where your actual pictures and words etc. of your website are stored is called "Hosting". All the Platforms we use are hosted on top-tier, physically secure cloud infrastructure (eg Amazon Web Services). All security updates are managed behind the scenes—no manual updates needed. The Platforms all have 24/7 Monitoring & Threat Detection.

This is where we differ from Web Developers which are typically small businesses with up to 10 employees - they might offer week day support or even weekends - but as your website is built on their system you are reliant on them....

Our Website Platforms (Wix, SquareSpace, GoDaddy) have up to 6000 employees, and offer 24/7 support. As we build the Website for you and you own the Website (and Domain) you are able to access help direct from the Platforms. It is actually very unlikely that anything will go wrong with your Website as the Platforms are constantly monitored for issues, malicious traffic and network attacks, but it is nice to know you can reach for help if needed...

The Platform we use is called Google Workspace and it links very well with the other Platforms we use (Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy). There is an additional ongoing cost of approximately £6/month (with annual plan, paid to Google).

Google Workspace gives your business a professional email address that matches your website, plus all the tools you already know from Google—like Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Meet. The difference is everything is upgraded for business: more storage, easy team collaboration, secure file sharing, and an admin dashboard so you stay in control. In short, it makes your business look professional and keeps everything organized in one place.

This is where traditional Web Developers will charge you expensive additional annual or monthly fees such as for your SSL certificate, for managing your account, and for support.

With CornerStone any fees you pay are direct to provider, ie we not charge any annual or monthly support or others fees. You will pay the following direct to the provider:

* Platform fee (Wix, Squarespace) approximately £9 - £20/month, depending on plan, prices cheaper if paid annually

* Domain (GoDaddy) approximately £22/year for your website name with full protection

All the sites we create are search engine optimised (SEO), which means that each page is set up with hidden information (called meta tags & key words) to help people find it.

Your Website will be indexed with Google, which means that Google’s search engine has discovered, analysed, and stored the pages of your website in its database (the Google Index) so they can appear in search results when people search for related terms.

In addition we recommend you set up a Google Business Profile (included in SILVER & GOLD plans) and ideally pay for some digital advertising, which will improve your search ratings. Google adverts payments can be reduced or stopped at any time. How much you decide to pay is completely up to you.

Others lock you into maybe 12 months, but with CornerStone there is no notice period as we want you to own your Website and Website name (called Domain). Your Website will be on a Platform (eg Wix, SquareSpace) and your Website name will be on an official Domain register in your name (eg GODADDY). With both we are happy to help you manage things on a pay as you go basis, Easy!

Absolutely! Your Website name (domain) will be registered with a domain name registrar. You can either keep your name with them and with our help point at your new Website or we can help you move to GoDaddy if you prefer the additional protection they offer, which is our recommended option.

NOTE Some Web Developers register your website name on their own systems - if this is the case they would need to release and move this to GoDaddy - we are happy to advise them how to do this.

Either way, you stay in control and ownership of your Website name.

Whilst we are based in the UK and our contracts operate under UK law we are happy to build websites in the English language for any country that legally allows our platforms (WIX, Squarespace, Godaddy) to operate.
